The quickly rising development of autonomous vehicle technology and increase of (semi-) autonomous vehicles on the road leads to an increased demand for more sophisticated human– machine-cooperation approaches to improve trust and acceptance of these new systems. In this work, we investigate the feeling of discomfort of human passengers while driving autonomously and the automatic detection of this discomfort with several model approaches, using the combination of different data sources. Based on a driving simulator study, we analyzed the discomfort reports of 50 participants for autonomous inner city driving. We found that perceived discomfort depends on the driving scenario (with discomfort generally peaking in complex situations) and on the passenger (resulting in interindividual differences in reported discomfort extend and duration). Further, we describe three different model approaches on how to predict the passenger discomfort using data from the vehicle’s sensors as well as physiological and behavioral data from the passenger. The model’s precision varies greatly across the approaches, the best approach having a precision of up to 80%. All of our presented model approaches use combinations of linear models and are thus fast, transparent, and safe. Lastly, we analyzed these models using the SHAP method, which enables explaining the models’ discomfort predictions. These explanations are used to infer the importance of our collected features and to create a scenario-based discomfort analysis. +e fusion of electricity, automation, and sharing is forming a new Autonomous Mobility-on-Demand (AMoD) system in current urban transportation, in which the Shared Autonomous Electric Vehicles (SAEVs) are a fleet to execute delivery, parking, recharging, and repositioning tasks automatically. To model the decision-making process of AMoD system and optimize multiaction dynamic dispatching of SAEVs over a long horizon, the dispatching problem of SAEVs is modeled according to Markov Decision Process (MDP) at first. +en two optimization models from short-sighted view and farsighted view based on combinatorial optimization theory are built, respectively.+eformer focuses on the instant and single-step reward, while the latter aims at the accumulative and multistep return. After that, the Kuhn–Munkres algorithm is set as the baseline method to solve the first model to achieve optimal multiaction allocation instructions for SAEVs, and the combination of deep Q-learning algorithm and Kuhn–Munkres algorithm is designed to solve the second model to realize the global optimization. Finally, a toy example, a macrosimulation of 1 month, and a microsimulation of 6 hours based on actual historical operation data are conducted. Results show that (1) the Kuhn–Munkres algorithm ensures the computational effectiveness in the large-scale real-time application of the AMoD system; (2) the second optimization model considering long-term return can decrease average user waiting time and achieve a 2.78% increase in total revenue compared with the first model; (3) and integrating combinatorial optimization theory with reinforcement learning theory is a perfect package for solving the multiaction dynamic dispatching problem of SAEVs....
A reasonable plan for charging stations is critical to the widespread use of electric vehicles. In this paper, we propose an optimal planning method for electric vehicle charging stations. First of all, we put forward a forecasting method for the distribution of electric vehicle fast charging demand in urban areas. Next, a new mathematical model that considers the mutual benefit of electric vehicle users and the power grid is set up, aiming to minimize the social cost of charging stations. Then, the model is solved by the Voronoi diagram combined with improved particle swarm optimization. In the end, the proposed method is applied to an urban area, simulation results demonstrate that the proposed method can yield optimal location and capacity of each charging station. To satisfy the high-rate power demand fluctuations in the complicated driving cycle, electric vehicle (EV) energy storage systems should have both high power density and high energy density. In order to obtain better energy and power performances, a combination of battery and supercapacitor are utilized in this work to form a semi-active hybrid energy storage system (HESS). A parameter matching method of battery-supercapacitor HESS for electric vehicles (EVs) is proposed. This method can meet the performance indicators of EVs in terms of power and energy for parameter matching. In this paper, a novel neural network-based robust control method is presented for a vehicle-oriented problem, in which the main goal is to ensure stable motion of the vehicle under critical circumstances. The proposed method can be divided into two main steps. In the first step, the model matching algorithm is proposed, which can adjust the nonlinear dynamics of the controlled system to a nominal, linear model. The aim of model matching is to eliminate the effects of the nonlinearities and uncertainties of the system to increase the performances of the closed-loop system. The model matching process results in an additional control input, which is computed by a neural network during the operation of the control system. Furthermore, in the second step, a robust H¥ is designed, which has double purposes: to handle the fitting error of the neural network and ensure the accurate tracking of the reference signal.
